Robin Wallar came to McMaster University to study engineering and in his first week of school began to look for a church on campus. Shocked to discover that on a campus of 30,000 students no church existed. That week, Robin prayed in his dorm room asking God to send someone to plant a church or he would start one. The following week he received a call from a local pastor and Robin became part of the planting team founding LIFT Church.
LIFT Church was founded based on the conviction that a university campus is like a walled city - in order to reach students, the church has to be planted within the campus

After being present as the church on campus at McMaster for 12 years, a mission statement was established: To see people made fully alive in the hope of Jesus by being the church on every campus.
To help accomplish that mission, a short-term vision was casted: To see churches on ten campuses by 2026.

Planted at a church at the University of Guelph.
After learnings from previous church plants and strong conviction, LIFT Church moved to a simpler strategy to church planting: sending ordinary believers (students who have been trained & equipped to make disciples) to start a Simple Church at a new campus.

In January the Living Sent Missionary School was launched - a training program for students who have graduated, to learn how to continue reaching the campus and making disciples after graduation through every stage of life.
To start a Simple Church, one of our leaders was sent to York University.
After learning the importance of sending teams when church planting, LIFT sent the first team to plant at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) campus.

As we look ahead to the future, we are excited to send out a team to our first out of province church at McGill University in Montreal the summer of 2027.
We are expectant and are looking forward to what God wants to do on our university campuses in our nation and beyond.
