Lives Changed on Campus and in the City

LIFT Church's mission to see people made fully alive in the hope of Jesus happens both on our campuses and in our cities. Learn more about our impact.

The Campus

In order to reach university students we need to be accessible and visible for them, this is why we intentionally host our Sunday gatherings right on campus. By hosting our gatherings on campus we can better reach students who are not believers as they might not consider exploring faith or spirituality without it being visible and accessible. In addition to Sundays, Simple Churches also visit campus regularly to do evangelism talking to students about faith, sharing the Gospel, and providing invitations into a church family.

BIANCA, SIMPLE CHURCH LEADER AT LIFT GUELPH

“Before fully surrendering my life to Jesus, I struggled deeply with my mental health, identity, and sense of purpose. I went through a long season of isolation where I felt completely alone and overwhelmed by my thoughts. Despite trying to fix things on my own, nothing brought real peace—until I began to pray daily and truly surrendered everything to Jesus. I realized that if I believed in His life, death, and resurrection, then I had to believe everything else He said too—including His promises for my life. This changed everything. Signing up for a Simple Church, even without knowing what it was at the time, led me to a community that embodied His love. Through scripture and this church family, I’ve come to know Jesus more personally as my Savior and the only One who gives true purpose.”

The City

Serve Our City (SOC) is how Simple Churches go to reach and serve those living in vulnerable communities by addressing physical, spiritual, and relational needs. Many SOC initiatives started organically by students with a heart to love their neighbours. SOC provides opportunities both for students and for peers exploring faith to learn more about Jesus and what it means to be a servant of Him.

Here are our active serving initiatives:

In 2016, two Simple Church went downtown Hamilton with  a barbecue to serve hot dogs to those living in a low income neighborhood. What started out as a one-off serving opportunity, has since flourished into a weekly community dinner program serving thousands of families experiencing food insecurity for the last decade.

Today, Simple Churches meet weekly to prepare a meal, build relationships with community members, run sports and crafts with kids, and lead a Bible study.

Royal City Mission
Since 2023, groups of Simple Churches have partnered with Royal City Mission - an organization located in downtown Guelph to serve a wide range of community members from the unhoused to low income seniors and to recent immigrants. Simple Churches serve at a weekly community dinner, intentionally connect with community members and clean up.

Mobile Ministries
In 2020, during the pandemic, a student leader wanted to go downtown Hamilton to provide winter clothing for the unhoused population. This leader started a clothing drive and brought groups of Simple Churches to join him in handing out clothing to people in need. This was the birth of what is now known as “Mobile Ministries”. Every other week, Simple Churches head downtown with food and water and they have intentional conversations with community members and offer to pray for them.

In 2025 Western caught on to this simple idea and began running their own Mobile Ministries in London.
